About the
artist
Isabella Stockbridge is an American oil painter from Fresno, California. She is currently based in Laguna Beach, California where she graduated from Laguna College of Art and Design to attain her BFA in Drawing and Painting with an emphasis in Illustration. She finds inspiration for her pieces from society around her, myths, stories, and psychology. Where she is then able to reinterpret them and retell the feminine story connecting the past, present, and future of femininity.
Artist
statement
Being born into a family of 7, where the only feminine energy was my mom and I, I would find myself feeling isolated in what I was going through as I experienced girlhood. Eventually, I learned that my mom and her mom and her mom all had these same feelings and thoughts and experiences. I didn't feel alone anymore in my plight. I wanted to create a world within my art, where women can connect to girlhood while also realizing how similar we are to those before and beyond us through our shared experiences. Recalling to all the women before us, drawing similarities and differences in every painting. Seeing the path that brought us from our foremothers and will bring us to our descendants.
